The most common phone repairs

Almost every phone that comes through our door has one of a handful of problems. These are the phone repairs we do every day:

Screen repairs

A cracked screen is the most common phone repair we do. Even a small crack can spread, let in dust and moisture, and cut fingers. If the display shows lines, goes black or ignores your touch, the screen underneath the glass is damaged too and the whole display needs replacing.

We fit quality screens for every model we list, and for eligible iPhones we can fit genuine Apple displays through our Independent Repair Provider service.

Battery repairs

Phone batteries wear out with every charge. After a couple of years many phones won't last the day, shut down in the cold or slow down to protect the battery. A new battery usually makes a phone feel new again.

Battery swaps are one of our quickest phone repairs. Customers have been in and out in 10 to 20 minutes on models where we have the part in stock.

Charging port repairs

Before you buy a new cable, check the port. Pockets and bags pack lint into charging ports, so the cable no longer clicks in. Sometimes a careful clean is all it needs. If the port itself is damaged, we replace it, often while you wait.

Speaker, microphone and camera repairs

If callers say you sound distant, or the speaker crackles, the microphone or speaker is usually blocked or damaged. Cameras that won't focus, show black, or have a cracked lens are another common fix. We test each part so you only pay for the phone repair you actually need.

Water-damaged phones

If your phone has been in water, switch it off, don't charge it and bring it in as soon as you can. Rice doesn't dry the inside of a phone. We open it, check the board, battery and charging port, and tell you what we find before we quote, so you can decide what to do.

How long do phone repairs take?

Most screen, battery and charging port repairs take up to 60 minutes. You are welcome to wait in the shop, or pop out and come back. Some jobs take longer, such as water damage, board faults or parts we need to order. We will always tell you the expected time before we start, and we keep you updated if anything changes.

What affects the price of phone repairs

Every price on our site is for parts and fitting, and you can see them model by model on the iPhone repair, Samsung repair and Huawei repair pages. Phone repairs start from £19.99. Three things affect the final price:

• The model. Newer phones and folding phones have more expensive screens.
• The part. Genuine Apple parts, available for eligible iPhone repairs, cost more than other quality parts.
• Hidden damage. A bent frame or water damage can mean a phone needs more than one repair.

We check the phone with you and confirm the price before any work starts, so there are no surprises.

Phone repairs and your data

Screen, battery and port repairs don't touch the storage, and we never reset a phone to repair it. We don't need your passcode for most jobs, and we don't browse your photos or messages.

Even so, back up first if you can. Apple, Samsung and Google all make this easy, and Samsung explains how on its UK support site. If your phone won't turn on, tell us, and we will take extra care to get it working without losing anything.

Repair or replace?

A new battery or screen usually costs a fraction of a new phone, and it keeps a working phone out of landfill. We will be honest if a repair isn't worth it, for example on an old phone with several faults. In that case we may be able to buy your old phone instead.
